Strengths & Convictions

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN NOBEL PEACE PRIZE LAUREATES

178,00 kr

The story of Nelson Mandela, FW de Klerk, Desmond Tutu and Albert Luthuli is told through photography and art that has never before been shown in Norway. Strenght and Concictions reflects both the peace prize winners ‘and artists’ struggle for human rights and a peaceful society. The apartheid regime, the resistance struggle and the road to the rainbow nation are depicted through a number of works of art, unique photographs from political and private contexts, Zapiro’s apt caricatures and political campaign material. Strenght and Concictions shows the spirit of the times both during and after the apartheid regime and provides an insight into how artists continue to get involved in the development of South Africa. The book comes at the same time as an exhibition at the Nobel Peace Center Courage and Resistance – The South African Peace Prize winners. The exhibition runs until October 24. The book contains a foreword by Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
